ASUS Vivobook S15 OLED review: Affordable OLED brilliance
Let's get started with the ASUS Vivobook S15 OLED review, considering the features and my impressions of the new laptop.
A laptop with a focus on providing a balance of cost, high display quality, and respectable specifications is the Asus Vivobook S 15 OLED. Even though this laptop won't break the bank, does it really deserve your money and attention? In order to give you a short overview of the pros and cons of the new Asus laptop, let's go into the specifics.
Display :
The laptop's strongest point is its display. Undoubtedly the Asus Vivobook S OLED's most noticeable feature. With a 15.6-inch 2.8K OLED panel and a refresh rate of 120Hz, it has a resolution of 2880 x 1620 pixels. Accurate and vibrant colours are guaranteed by the 100% DCI-P3 coverage, which is further supported by Pantone and Delta .
Design and Portability:
Despite having a 15.6-inch display, the Asus Vivobook S OLED has a rather slim and compact design. The laptop has an ABS body and an aluminium lid. Additionally, the 180° ErgoLift hinge enables ergonomics to be more adaptable. The laptop is 17.9mm thin and only weighs 1.7 kilogramme. It is simple to transport in a back pack or a typical saddle bag. There are several colour options for the laptop, including Midnight Black, Cool Silver, Solar Blue, and Cream White. The review unit for Cool Silver proved effective at hiding fingerprints.
Performance:
The Asus Vivobook S OLED provides a wide range of performance options on the inside. It may be set up with the most recent Intel CPUs, such as the Core i9-13900H, Core i7-13700H, and Core i5-13500H. The CPUs have a 10 nm architecture since these chipsets are from the H-series. The laptop has up to 16GB of 4800 MHz LPDDR5 RAM available. The laptop handled our daily duties and multitasking with ease. The laptop also has a PCIe Gen 4 SSD with 512GB or 1TB of storage options and up to 3.5 Gbps data transmission rates. On a laptop, casual surfing and simple editing are simple. However, some graphically demanding video games might increase the amount of heat created.
Connectivity and Convenience:
There is a good array of ports and connectivity choices available on the Asus Vivobook S OLED. Along with others, it has Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2, HDMI 1.4, and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack. Wi-Fi 6E is also installed on the laptop, providing quicker and more reliable wireless connectivity. The glass touchpad offers an effortless usage experience and is responsive. Facial recognition login is simultaneously offered by the Full HD 3DNR camera with an infrared sensor and Windows Hello functionality. The laptop has a 75 WHrs battery and 90W rapid charging is supported. It doesn't have the best battery life, but with light surfing and streaming videos, it easily lasts up to 4 hours.
Additional Features and Software:
Microsoft Office Home and Student 2021 is packaged with the Asus Vivobook S15 OLED. Additionally, it has features like Alexa integration, MyASUS, and AI Noise Cancellation. The laptop has Dolby Atmos and Smart Amp capabilities, but the speakers are not as loud as one would like.
Verdict:
At this price point, the ASUS Vivobook S15 OLED delivers a number of features and specifications that are unbeatable. Its display, which stands out, makes it perfect for watching material. Contrary to what one might expect, the audio output is feeble. Comfortable typing and navigation are made possible by the spacious trackpad and a decent keypad.
Considerable limitations include the Iris Xe graphics, which could not be suitable for avid gamers. The display may also be too warm for some users, especially professionals, to edit images. The S15 OLED is an excellent choice for anyone seeking for a device to perform routine everyday duties and who also needs a good display for watching high-quality content.
